I’ve been resting my face off this week. I took everyone’s advice on my post from earlier this week and skipped the tempo run on my really tight legs. I headed to my crazy yoga class on Tuesday night. It really helped my legs but I ended up irritating my lower back. Womp womp. I did the exact same thing over the summer and panicked and ran straight to the orthopedist – who was really nice and gave me some painkiller samples that I never touched. So I spent most of last week taking those and heat packing my back just relaxing. I ended up skipping my Wednesday swim, for reasons to be mentioned in a minute, and just not feeling my Thursday run. It was one of those weeks where I had every single intention of working out a lot but I’m actually not upset by the fact that nothing really came together. I’m actually really relieved that this all happened last week and not this week, which is the week leading into my first race of the year. If my body wants to have a week to be a jerk, I’m glad it picked a really inconsequential week to do it!
About skipping the Wednesday swim – I was actually at a job interview until after 6:00 pm! It was my fourth interview at this organization and everything went really well. By the time I got home from it and talked to the boyfriend about how it went, it was after 8 p.m. and just too late for me to head to the pool. And it turns out that the people I interviewed with also thought it went well because they checked my references first thing Thursday morning and offered me the job on Thursday afternoon! I know I’ve been a bit vague on Twitter…
…and a bit absent on the blog, but I was so stressed about the whole process that it was hard for me to think about anything else. And then Friday, I had to quit my current job – which made me actually sick to do. I’ve had this job since late 2008 and it’s been really good, for the most part. But the time came to move on and I’m really happy to move into this new role. And don’t worry, I won’t get all boring and start talking about work all the time (or ever). I just wanted to share my excitement – and then move things back to normal!
Speaking of normal, lets discuss how my self portrait skills have not improved. At all. I tried to take a picture before heading to the pool on Saturday…

Um, right.
I did, however, manage to to get a good picture of my new favorite product on earth – KT Tape Pro!
And now I’m ready to embrace my official taper week. I’m going to swim and do some biking and… that’s it. Maybe one short run to keep my legs moving before race day. I can’t believe it’s already here!
Congrats to everyone who raced today – especially my fellow FitFluential ambassadors who rocked the Disney Princess weekend.

Congrats on the new job! What a neat, new adventure to move into. And happy tapering too – I’m sure it’s not easy but it sounds like you’re embracing it well!
Seeing all the tweets and posts sure made me wish I was hanging out with some fellow FitFluentials in person and running! Hopefully someday many of us can connect!

You’re so cute. You “rested your face off”. Love it.
I can’t wait to hear about the job once you’re more able to talk about it. Congrats!
Enjoy your taper before B&A! We ran 12.2 yesterday, and I’m looking forward to the decrease heading up to RnR.
Congrats on the new job! That is so exciting
Also, love the new suit, wish I got to wear ones like that back during my swim team days
