Product Review: Michelob Ultra Light Cider

One of my favorite parts of working with BlogHer is getting to participate in product reviews. Last week, I ran to several stores Whole Foods to grab a six pack of Michelob Ultra Light Cider.

I’m not the biggest beer drinker so I was excited to try something that’s a little sweeter than regular beer. It turns out that the brewing process for cider follows that of beer, with the main difference being the ingredients used: cider uses apples, while barley and hops are generally the main ingredients for beer. Michelob ULTRA Light Cider is made with all-natural ingredients, including apples, and is naturally sweetened with stevia. For more info on how it’s sweetened, check out the sponsor’s site.

Sweet taste. Low on calories.

I gave the cider a try and was so impressed with the flavor. I was a little worried it was going to taste like carbonated apple juice – it doesn’t! It tasted like a lighter version of other ciders on the market, which was exactly what I was hoping it would taste like.

If you notice there's one missing, it's because my coworker snagged one to try!

ULTRA Light Cider has 120 calories per serving – that’s one-third fewer calories than an average of the leading regular hard ciders. Sold. Any time I can find something that tastes great and has less calories than other products… well, it’s a keeper. I definitely recommend giving it a try.

It was a little difficult to track the cider down since it’s a new product. If you want to try it, check out their website and look for locations that sell it near you.

Which favorite summer meal or activity do you think would go best with Michelob ULTRA Cider?
