The Washington Nationals clinched the National League East on Monday night and it was just incredible. With a 96-64 record at the time, they were tied for the best record in baseball (a distinction they held for most of the 2012 season). While the clinch itself was fairly anticlimactic (both the Nationals and the second place team, the Atlanta Braves lost which mathematically eliminated the Braves from catching up in the two remaining games) the celebration that followed was anything but. These guys worked hard, played well and deserved their division win. And if you disagree and are here to say they won by losing… well suck it… you’re totally entitled to your opinion but you’re wrong and that’s ok.

Nats outfielder Bryce Harper, aged not-quite-old-enough-to-drink, celebrates by pouring beer on Mike Rizzo.

This is probably one of my favorite pictures just because poor Kristina Akra from MASN gets totally drenched and she looks like she was not expecting it at all!

Big thanks to everyone who continues to follow me on Twitter despite my insane baseball tweets (I always lose a good handful of followers during baseball season).
Who’s ready for October baseball?!

To be honest I’ve been completely ignoring the fact that baseball is still going on after the abomination of a season Boston had.
HOWEVER – I’m really excited for the Nationals! I’ll start watching again once the playoffs kickoff. My favorite time of year, when football & baseball playoffs overlap.
Good luck!!

haha! Love this post! I am so excited for October baseball. I was trying to explain it to my son the other day and he just kept saying, “But we just want Derek Jeter to do well, right Mommy?” That’s right.
